MX-01 · MATTAE LABS · BUILD-IN-PUBLIC

The bottle that becomes the only bottle you own. One body. Many functions. Patented.

MX-01 is the first official build-in-public experiment from Mattae Labs. A patented modular bottle that comes apart, swaps function, and locks tighter than any single-mechanism bottle on the market. New configurations release on a rolling basis. The architecture is what’s protected.

01 · The Problem

What’s wrong with the bottle you already own. Eight things. All real. Most aren’t fixable.

You probably own three or four bottles already. You probably drink from one. Here’s why the rest live in your cabinet.

01 · SMELL

It stinks. Rinsing won’t fix it.

Biofilm builds inside every reusable bottle. Hot water doesn’t kill it. Soap doesn’t reach it. By the time you can smell it, you’ve been drinking it for weeks.

02 · CLEANING

Your hand doesn’t fit. The brush doesn’t reach.

The narrow mouth keeps water in. It keeps cleaning out. You buy a skinny brush. You miss the corners anyway. The inside of your bottle is the dirtiest object you put near your face every day.

03 · LEAKS

85% of bottle lids leak.

Gaskets compress. Threads wear. One day your bag is wet and your laptop is dead. The bottle still looks fine. It isn’t.

04 · STRAW

The straw clouds in a month.

You can’t see what’s in it. You can’t clean what you can’t see. You drink through it anyway, or you skip the straw and accept the spills.

05 · ONE PART FAILS

Lid cracks. Gasket dries. New bottle.

The bottle outlives everything attached to it. You don’t replace the part, you replace the whole thing. The old one goes in the cabinet. You tell yourself you’ll deal with it later.

06 · TASTE

The water tastes like the bottle.

Plastic. Metal. Last week’s protein. Even after a wash, the bottle keeps a memory of what was in it. You drink less because the water tastes off.

07 · FIVE BOTTLES, FIVE JOBS

Water bottle. Mug. Shaker. Pitcher. Jar.

One for water. One for coffee. One for protein. One for filtered. One for overnight oats. Five objects. Five cabinets. Most of them empty most of the time.

08 · WEARS OUT

Coating peels. Gaskets dry. Insulation fades.

The vacuum seal fails after a year. Ice melts faster than the box promised. Coffee gets cold by lunch. You replace the bottle because nothing about it was replaceable in the first place.

02 · The Idea

One bottle. Re-architected.

Comes apart. Swaps function. Locks tighter. Three vessel parts twist together into a bottle and come apart into a cup, a bowl, and a base. One attachment slot in the body accepts whatever the lab releases. The MATTAE M3™ coupling holds tighter than anything single-mechanism on the market. The M3 is the platform.

Vessel A
Lid The seal point. Patented architecture. Tighter than threaded. Faster than snap.
Vessel B
Body Kitchen-grade stainless. Double-wall vacuum. 30h ice life. Accepts the attachment.
Vessel C
Base Detaches. Works standalone as a cup or a bowl. Ring seal extends capacity from 32oz to 40oz.
Attachment
Filtration Activated carbon. Tap water in. Clean water out. No pitcher in your cabinet.
Attachment
Mixing, Infusing, Straining Whisk ball for protein. Basket for fruit and tea. Mesh tube for loose-leaf. Same slot. Different bottle every time.
Attachment
Sensor Optional electronic attachment. Coming later. Details stay quiet until launch.

04 · What’s different

Eight problems. Eight answers.

Section one named what every bottle gets wrong. Here’s how MX-01 fixes each one.

MX-01 locked vs unlocked: lime green stripe visible = sealed. Lime green hidden = ready to twist. Poka-yoke safety indicator.
Lime green visible = sealed. Lime green hidden = ready to twist. The dual-lock makes the state legible at a glance.
01 · Smell
Every surface comes apart. Every gasket replaceable. Biofilm has nowhere to hide.
02 · Cleaning
No narrow mouths. No curved corners. Each vessel is open on both ends when separated. Your hand reaches every surface.
03 · Leaks
Patented mid-section lock. Tighter than threaded. Engineered to outlast the rest of the bottle.
04 · Straw
Straw pulls out for cleaning. See through it. Replace it. Or skip it entirely and use the wide mouth.
05 · One part fails
Replaceable everything. Lid, gasket, ring seal, attachments. All sold separately. The bottle outlives any one part.
06 · Taste
Kitchen-grade 304 stainless. Wide-mouth disassembly for full cleaning. The water tastes like water.
07 · Five bottles, five jobs
One body. Many functions. Bottle, cup, bowl, shaker, filter, infuser, and whatever ships next.
08 · Wears out

Why I’m building this. In one paragraph.

FOUNDER Mattae Kim, founder of Mattae Labs founder-portrait.jpg

I’ve owned eleven bottles in ten years. Every one of them ended up in a cabinet next to four others. I built MX-01 because the problem with the bottle in my hand was never the bottle, it was that the category stopped trying. One body. Many functions. Replaceable parts. Patented coupling. Tested for 10,000 leak-proof assembly cycles. Reservers get the earliest serials and a direct line to the lab. The platform expands from there.
